Cable/Harness Testing Made Easy. Knowing that your test equipment is properly operating removes fear, uncertainty, and doubt about test results. While all Cirris testers perform various self-test features on power-up, performing an annual calibration, or performance check, of each tester can fulfill a key requirement of your quality system (most often ISO-9000). Our newsletter this month covers ways to most cost effectively keep your Cirris testers in a calibration system. If you have any questions or comments, call us at 1-800-441-9910. Best Regards, |

| Keeping Cirris Testers in Calibration | |
Cirris testers can be sent to Cirris for calibration, sent to an independent calibration lab, or you can perform a performance check on your testers with calibration kits available from Cirris. For an overview of your calibration options and costs to help you decide on the solution that best fits your company see: Performance Check KitsWhat about calibration of adapters? As adapters wear, the measured resistance increases in mating contacts. This can cause assemblies to fail testing because wires measure as having too high of resistance. While this problem does not result in passing bad cables as good, it will waste time and perhaps even result in scraping good assemblies because they are thought to be defective. You may want to "performance check" your adapters by creating a shorting block adapter tester. A shorting block is simply a connector that mates to your test adapter with all pins shorted together. You "performance test" your adapter by plugging this shorting block in and testing for very low resistance. See more details at: Testing Adapters |
