Wired assemblies with switches need to be tested for each switch position. Adding more switches makes things more complicated as the number of combinations rises. As an example four switches, each with two positions, can create up to 2 X 2 X 2 X 2 = 16 different connection patterns. Notice as you add switches your switch combinations increase at the square of the number of switches. Most combinations can be ignored as long as any wires to a switch connect at some point to a tester's test point. Wires between switch contacts that do not connect to test points require combination testing. You might even consider creating test point connections with an alligator clip connected to such a wire between switches. This may save a lot of work flipping switches, however every position of every switch needs to be tested at least once.
